Flora Biddle
Flora Miller Biddle was president of the Whitney Museum of American Art from 1977 to 1995.
Flora Miller Biddle is the granddaughter of the sculptor Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, who founded the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1931.
Ms. Biddle has published four books: The Whitney Women and the Museum They Made (2017, 1999), Embers (2011), The Ads (co-authored with Fiona Donovan and Mark Donovan, 2010), Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, A Biography (1978).
Ms. Biddle was President of the Whitney Museum of American Art from 1977 to 1995 and is a lifetime trustee. She served on the New York City Art Commission from 1980-1990. She received her BA from Manhattanville College in 1978.
She has 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
